1. PUBLISHING YOUR BOOK
1.1 I want to publish my book on the Bob Bookshop. How does it work?
-
Create your book using Bob Designer. You can download the software from here.
-
Look out for your Invitation to Publish email and follow the publish link provided. This email should come through
shortly after you have ordered your book. If you haven't received this email within 2 hours, please first check your
spam folder. If you still cannot locate your email, contact us on
askbob@bobbooks.co.uk quoting your order number.
-
You will be asked to sign in to your Bob Books account and create a nickname if you don't
already have one. Then give your book a title and description, select your categories and
tags (keywords describing your book), choose your visibility and sales preferences and click
Publish. Don't forget to fill in your Author description too. If you have more than one book
in your order, you can publish each one by filling in the information for each book.
And hey presto, you are a published Author!
1.2 Do I need to wait until I receive my book before I can publish it?
Nope, as soon as you receive your Invitation to Publish email, you can
publish your book. This email usually arrives within 1 hour of
completing your order through Bob Designer.
1.3 How much does it cost to publish my book in Bob Bookshop?
It is completely free to publish your book in the Bob Bookshop.
The only requirement is that you first create your book and purchase
at least 1 copy through the Bob Designer software or the Design Service.
1.4 I made a mistake in my book, can I change this?
Unfortunately, once your book is ordered through Bob Designer, it goes
straight into production and we are unable to make any changes or
cancellations. Please contact customer care by email on
askbob@bobbooks.co.uk or by
telephone on 0844 880 6800

1.5 I made a mistake in the description and title on the Bookshop, can I change this?
Absolutely, you can make changes to your title, book description,
author description, categories, tags and visibility at any time by
logging in to your account. You will find these tools under the
Manage Your Books area. You can also remove your book from the
Bookshop at any time.
1.6 How do I fill in my Author description?
You can fill in your Author description by going to the Manage Your
Books page and selecting the EDIT AUTHOR DESCRIPTION link on the left.
1.7 What do the visibility options mean?
We understand that you may want to control who can see your book,
that’s why we’ve given you three options. “Public” books will be
included in the Bob Bookshop and will be visible to all website
visitors. “Secret URL” books will not appear to visitors in the Bob
Bookshop, however, the book can be viewed by anyone with the book’s
URL. This is ideal if you would like to share your books with only
family and friends. “Private” books are only visible to you when you
are logged in to your account. These books are not visible to anyone
else.
1.8 I can't publish my book onto the Bookshop
If your book was ordered through Bob Designer after March 1st, 2011 and
you are having problems publishing your book, please contact us on
info@bobbooks.co.uk and we
will do our best to assist. If your book was ordered before March
1st, 2011, unfortunately, we will be unable to publish your book
because we do not have the required files. If you purchase another
copy of your book through Bob Designer, you will be sent your
Invitation to Publish email and will then be able to publish the book.
1.9 What happens with my content and copyright when I publish my book on Bob Bookshop?
You hold all Intellectual Property Rights on your book. You alone are
responsible for your submission and content and it is your
responsibility to ensure that your books do not include content or
other material that is likely to infringe the Intellectual Property
Rights of any third party. For full details on this please see
section 8 and 9 in our T&Cs
here.
1.10 Once I've uploaded my book to the Bookshop, do I need to do anything?
Spread the word and enjoy the rave reviews! Facebook, twitter, email,
websites and blogs are a fantastic way to promote your book. You’ll
find your free Share tool just below your title on your book’s
webpage.

2. SELLING YOUR BOOK
2.1 I want to sell my book in the Bob Bookshop.
How does this work? Simply follow the
Bob Bookshop publishing steps
and select either "I want to publish my book at the retail price" or "I want to earn from my sales" under the Sales heading when you
are publishing your book. If you select "I want to earn from my sales" you will be given the option to set your own Author mark-up
which will be added on to the base price of your book. You will then be paid your author mark-up for your book sales. If you have
already published your book, you can make changes at any time by logging into your account, viewing your books and then selecting "edit".
2.2 I only want to sell my book to family and friends. How does this work?
If you set your book's visibility to "Secret URL" and select "This book is for sale at the retail price" under the Sales options,
the book will not appear in the Bob Bookshop categories and can only be accessed and purchased by its URL. Send the link to your
family and friends and they can buy their own copies of your book at the base price. Please note that anyone with access to the URL
will be allowed to purchase the book if it is made available for sale. If your book is set to "Private" visibility, only you will be
able to purchase the book when logged into your author account.
2.3 Can I earn a profit from my book sales?
Yes, select "I want to earn from my book sales" under the Sales options when you publish your book in the Bob Bookshop and then you
can add your own Author mark-up. If you add £2 as your Author mark-up, this will be added on to the retail price of your book
and you will be paid £2 for each of the sold books. If you don't want to earn from your sales, simply set your book to sell at
the base price.
2.4 How are the Author payments calculated?
Bob Bookshop Author payments will be calculated as follows for all valid, confirmed and completed orders:
[Bookshop Sale Price] minus [Book Base Price] equals [Author Payment]. The book base price is the standard price charged when purchasing
one copy of the book through the Bob Designer software. For example, if you sell a square 26 page paperback book with a base price of
£16.99 and an author mark-up of £10 the book would be sold in the bookshop at a price of £26.99. Your author payment
would be £26.99 -£16.99 = £10.00
2.5 When and how will I be paid for my sales?
Author payments will be processed bi-monthly and paid into the Author's designated PayPal account. The minimum payment threshold is 10GBP.
If your unpaid profits are less than 10GBP, they will be rolled over to the next scheduled payment. Bob Books charges a £1 processing
fee for each Author payment. PayPal may charge additional payment fees. Please see PayPals terms and conditions for details.
2.6 Are there any costs involved with selling my book in the Bob Bookshop?
It is free to publish your book in the Bob Bookshop and there is no cost involved if you choose to sell your books at their base price with
no Author Mark-up. If you do choose to set your own Author Mark-up Bob Books charges a £1 processing fee for each Author payment.
PayPal may charge additional payment fees. Please see PayPals terms and conditions for details.
2.7 How will I know if my book has sold?
You will receive an email when one of your books has been purchased from the Bob Bookshop. Please note that the sale is not considered final
until 7 working days after the customer has received the book.
2.8 Why aren't all my book sales appearing on my Author sales statement?
You are sent an email as soon as one of your books is ordered from the Bob Bookshop; however the sale is not yet final at that stage. Any
cancelled or returned orders will not be included in your Author payments.
2.9 Can I use my book sales to fundraise for a charity?
Yes, once you create and purchase one book and publish it in the Bob Bookshop, be sure to add it to the Charity & Fundraising category and
add your Author Mark-up. If you are working for a registered charity, please contact us on
info@bobbooks.co.uk
for further information as to how Bob Books can help with your fundraising.
2.10 I created my book using Bob Designer Pro software; can I still publish and sell my book?
Yes. Our Pro user database is separate from our standard accounts and is currently not connected to our website. You can still publish your
book in the Bob Bookshop if you have purchased your book through the Bob Designer Pro software, but you will first need to create an account
on our website using the same email address as used in your Pro account. Once you have created this account, please go back to your "Invitation
to publish" email and follow the steps to publish your book online. Please note, that any books sold through the Bob Bookshop will have the
Bob Books logo on the last page of the book. If you don't require a logo free book, we suggest that you use our standard software for all your
orders as this will allow you full access to the tools on bobbooks.co.uk.
2.11 How do I invite people to view and purchase my book?
Once you have published your book in the Bob Bookshop, you can share your book, using the "Share" button on your book's online page or by
sending your book's URL (aka web address or link) in emails, facebook, twitter, blogs and websites. You can find your book's URL in your
Confirmation of Publishing email or by viewing your book in the Bob Bookshop and selecting the URL from the address bar at the top of your
browser window. Your book's URL will start with "http://www.bobbooks.co.uk/bookshop/users/". Please note that if you have your book visibility
set to "Private", the book will not be visible to anyone other than you.
2.12 Can Bob Bookshop customers buy my book in different sizes and formats?
Each book in the Bob Bookshop can only be purchased in the same size and format that the book was created in by the Author. If you would
like to make your book available to purchase in a variety of formats, you will need to create and purchase a copy of each of these version
in the Bob Designer software. You will then be able to publish each of the books.

3. Buying a Bookshop Book
3.1 How do I buy a book from the Bob Bookshop?
All books in the Bob Bookshop will show the sale price on the category pages and below the large online book preview when you are looking
at the book's page. Books which do not show a price cannot be purchased. To purchase a book in the Bob Bookshop just click on the Buy It
Now button on the book's page. If you are not already logged in to your account on the website, you will be asked to either sign in with
an existing Bob Books account or register for a new account. Once you are logged in, you can add more books to your shopping basket, adjust
quantities and follow the checkout process, completing your payment by debit or credit card. Your payment will be processed by Sagepay
secure payment gateway. We accept Visa, Visa Debit/Electron, Mastercard and Maestro. Once you have added a book to your shopping basket,
you can view your basket contents at any time by clicking the "Bookshop Basket" link at the top right of the website.
3.2 Why am I being asked for a nickname when I try to purchase a book in the Bob Bookshop?
In order to buy or sell anything in the Bob Bookshop, a nickname/username is required. You will only be asked to set this once. Please note
that this name will appear alongside any books you publish or comments you make in the bookshop, so please select your name carefully. Your
nickname cannot be changed once it has been set and can only contain letters and numbers.
3.3 Can I make changes to my order after I've completed payment?
We want to get you your order as quickly as possible, so as soon as you complete payment, your order goes into production. All books are
produced to order, so it's not possible to make any changes once you have confirmed your order by completing your payment.
3.4 When can I expect delivery of my book?
Production and delivery to the UK within 7-10 working days for paperback and most hardback books. Photographic paper and large format books
please allow 10-12 working days. Please allow extra time for any deliveries outside of the UK.
3.5 There's a problem with my book. Can you help?
Bob Books has no control over the content of the books in the Bob Bookshop. This is the sole responsibility of the book author. Should your
book arrive damaged or with a printing fault, please contact our customer care team on
askbob@bobbooks.co.uk
quoting your order number and describing the issue with your book within 7 working days of receiving delivery of your order, and we will be
happy to help.
3.6 My friend sent me the link to a book, but the website says "Page not found".
It sounds like either the book author has set the book with "Private" visibility, has removed the book from the online Bob Bookshop, or
there may be typo in the URL you are using. We'd suggest contacting the Author directly if you can and ask them to check their book settings.
3.7 I'm having problems ordering a book, what do I do?
If you are having problems registering on our website or completing payment for a Bob Bookshop order, please get in touch explaining the issue
on
askbob@bobbooks.co.uk or 0844 880 6800 and we'll be happy to help.If you have found a book that
you would like to purchase, but the book is not available for sale, please contact the author directly.
3.8 Why do some books say they are for viewing only?
The Bob Bookshop is set up to allow book author's to publish their books to share and to sell. Some author's may decide that they don't wish
their book to be sold in the bookshop. If the book is not available to purchase, there will be no sale price and no Buy It Now button.
3.9 Can I collect my book order?
No, Bob Books production facilities are not open to customers. You can, however, designate an alternate address for delivery if it is not
convenient to receive delivery at your home address.
3.10 Can I use my Bob Books gift voucher or discount code in the Bob Bookshop?
Not now. The Bob Bookshop orders go through a separate checkout from the Bob Designer software and the Design Service. Currently, it's not possible
to use any kind of vouchers or bulk discounts for Bob Bookshop orders, but this is something we are hoping to introduce in the future.
3.11 Can I return a book purchased in the Bob Bookshop?
If you would like to return your Bob Bookshop order, please contact us at
askbob@bobbooks.co.uk for
further instructions upon receipt of the book. Returns are accepted within 7 working days after the date of delivery only. Returns will not be
accepted outside this timeline.
