The RPS International Photobook Exhibition 2016

The Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain presents what is believed to be the first Open International Photobook Exhibition organised in the UK. Entries were mailed in from 155 entrants and 23 countries around the world, reflecting the expanding interest in the photobook form. The initiative for the exhibition was undertaken by volunteers from the Society’s Contemporary Group.

• Winner: Hometowns, by John MacLean, UK (photobook dummy)

• Second: Entre, by Arnaldo Pappalardo, Brazil (photobook dummy)

• Third: Missing Buildings, by Thom and Beth Atkinson, UK (self-published)

• Hon. Mention: Five Days in Northumbria with Doris, by Jeff Hutchinson (artist book)

• A total of 25 entries are short-listed for exhibition

Exhibition of the short-listed photobooks will be held at:


David Campany
Writer, curator of exhibitions and teacher at graduate and postgraduate level. He has published several books on photography and over a hundred essays.
Lucy Kumara Moore
Director of the world-renowned photography and fashion bookshop Claire de Rouen. She studied history of art at Chelsea College of Art & Design and at the Royal College of Art.
Dewi Lewis
Publisher of photography books since 1994. In 2012, the Kraszna-Krausz Foundation presented him with an award for Outstanding Contribution to Photography Publishing.
