Organise your photos first
Regardless of the project that you are creating (or working on), we always recommend starting with your photos.
Sort through your pictures and compile them all into one album on your desktop so that they are all in a single place. You can select the folder with all your images to design your book.
On the Phone
If your photos are on your mobile device, make sure they are edited the way you would like them to print. That way when you import the images, they are ready to be placed and printed. If you are not sure how to edit images on your phone, read about our Top 10 Photography Apps that can help with your mobile editing.
Pro Tip: If you would like to do any editing to your images (turning them black and white or changing the brightness), we suggest doing that at this stage so you do not need to come back to this later.
Use the Autofill Assistant
If you are in a hurry and want your images to appear in your book without having to drag and drop each one individually, we got you covered. Simply select the “Autofill Assistant” option and the software automatically place your selected images in your blank book.
Once you have selected your file, the Assistant will determine how many images you have selected and it will give you the option to increase (or decrease) the amount of pages you have in your book as well as how many images appear on each page.
Pro Tip: After all your images have been placed, you can still swap, add or remove photos and layouts, and rearrange your photos to make it exactly how you want it.
Once you have imported your images, you can select the “Fill Empty Pages” option from the drop down menu on the left-hand side. The Assistant will calculate how many images you have and distribute them in your book. If you still have blank pages, you can upload more images and use the same tool so they can fill up the rest of the empty pages in your book.
Pro Tip: You can move edit the images on each page if you wish to add/remove or move them. Do so by clicking on the spread that you would like to edit and selecting the images that you wish to edit or remove.
Check the layout
Since your book has been automatically filled by the Assistant, we strongly recommend you check through each page to look over the layout, check the images are where you would like them to and most importantly, to ensure nothing has been cut off.
Pro Tip: If you need to move an image, simply click on the picture and drag it to move it to a new position. You can also move the pages in the book if you wish, more information on that can be found here: [LINK]
Place your order
Once you have looked over your project and are happy with your book, place your order.
What about the app?
If you wish to create a book in a few minutes using the Bob Books app, you can do so by using the Two-Minute Book option. Just make sure that all the images that you wish to print are on your mobile device so you can import them in the app.
What is the Two- Minute Book
The two-minute book is a feature of our app that allows you to make a book in a couple of minutes. You can find this option when you choose the type of book that you looking to create. We wanted to allow our customers to make a book in a couple of minutes so they can create an object they will treasure forever in less time than it takes to run a bath. This is for the Christmas book you don’t have time for, but that you’ve been meaning to make.
How does it work?
It is quite similar to our Custom-Making book option but simpler and quicker:
- Select the style you prefer If you select the Two-Minute option, you will be asked to select that style that you prefer (Full Bleed or Original Size)
- Choose your images from your image library on your phone or iPad. We’ll drop them in - one photograph per page.
- Design your cover, give your book a once over
- Place your order
It really is that simple.
