Looking specifically at the Maldives Whale Shark Research Program and their work in the South Ari Atoll, the book explores the collection of baseline data on the reefs and the importance of engaging local communities with marine conservation as a vital way to ensure its protection.

Currently a Marine and Natural History Photography student at Falmouth University in Cornwall, Ellie's passion for photography is constantly growing and evolving. Ellie's photography has a documentary style and focus' on a range of subjects from creative portraits to marine and terrestrial landscapes and species here in the UK and across the globe. Searching for beautiful light using both analogue and digital mediums, Ellie likes to capture fleeting moments and emotions shared between people and places. These experiences only occur in the moment, meaning her camera is never far from her side. Ellie is passionate about conservation and animal rights and aims to use her images as tools to raise awareness to these issues where she can.
