Supporting Frazzled Cafe this Christmas

Providing a place where it's OK, to not be OK

With £1 for every order throughout December

We're proud to be supporting Frazzled Cafe this year. Bob Books are donating £1 from every order throughout December towards the national charity facilitating peer support meetings around the UK, now operating virtually.

Founded by recognised mental health advocate Ruby Wax OBE, Frazzled Cafe is a registered charity that operates with the purpose of providing a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where people who are feeling frazzled and overwhelmed by the stresses of modern life can meet on a regular basis to talk and share their personal stories.

Watch our zoom interview with Ruby Wax here, where she shares what motivated her to start Frazzled Cafe and why human connection is so important.

About Frazzled Cafe

The inspiration for Frazzled Cafe came from founder and patron Ruby Wax’s experiences during her best-selling book and theatre tours. Ruby encountered thousands of people looking to connect and share their stories and whenever she asked her audiences if they wanted a chance to speak, they always did. Ruby sensed the real need for a place where people could connect with peer-to-peer support to help cope with the overwhelming stresses of modern life.

Frazzled Cafe meetings provide a ‘talk-in’ place where people who are feeling frazzled can meet fortnightly to talk and share their personal stories in a safe, anonymous and non-judgmental environment - a place where it's ok, to not be ok. This year saw Frazzled Cafe adapt and move meetings online, typically lasting 45-60 minutes. These take the format of both larger group forums (around 50-100 people) hosted by Ruby Wax, and smaller peer support meetings hosted by trained Frazzled Cafe volunteers, with a maximum of 12 attendees.

Frazzled Cafe meetings are not about therapy or offering solutions. They provide a safe and confidential space where people can simply speak openly without worrying about judgement amongst others who understand how it feels to be frazzled.

“We live in a time where to have a life crammed to the hilt is considered a success story. But with all this pressure, so many of us have nowhere to go to meet and talk about it. Frazzled Cafe is about people coming together to share their stories, calmly sitting together, stating their case and feeling validated as a result. Feeling heard, to me, has always been half the cure.”

- Ruby Wax OBE, Founder and Patron of Frazzled Cafe
